Graduate Student Research Awards 
in Support of Scholarly Projects

Doctorate Level Only

Robert E. Stitzel Graduate Student Research Award
This award is to further a student’s progress toward a doctor of philosophy degree at WVU. It is to support specifically a PhD student in a CEHS program of study. The award may be used for, but is not limited to, travel, training, research, and professional development.

John and Barbara Pisapia Doctoral Research Award 

This award shall provide funds to support dissertation research for a doctorate level student in CEHS. A preference is given to research on topics of educational policy and/or leadership in West Virginia public schools. A student who is a recipient one year is not eligible for reconsideration.

Berlin B. Chapman Graduate Student Award 

This award is to support students in CEHS for approved doctoral level research projects including but not liited to independent research activities, presentation of these research activities by students at professional meetings and theses and dissertations.

Dr. Anne H. Nardi Ph.D. in Education Research Award

This award shall provide funds to support students in the PhD in Education Program. A preference is given to support preliminary research projects as required by the program. Funds may also support approved research projects including but not limited to independent research activities, presentation of these research activities by students at professional meetings, and dissertations.

Doctorate and Masters Level

Wirt C. and Mae S. Belcher Graduate Education Award
This award is to support teaching, research, and service activities in CEHS graduate student programs. Examples include but are not limited to internships, practicum site placements, research projects, and scholarship awards. Preference given to approved research projects including but not limited to independent research activities, presentation of these research activities by students at professional meetings, and theses and dissertations.

John J. Paterson Student Research Award
This award is to support students in CEHS for approved research projects including but not limited to independent research activities, presentation of these research activities by students at professional meetings and theses and dissertations. Salaries, benefits and or equipment purchases are excluded from fund use.

Mike Reed Student Research Award
This award is to support graduate students from CEHS for uses including but not limited to professional development and research support.
