Fundraising and Alumni Relations
The CEHS advancement team has a large focus on development (fundraising) for the CEHS. Our development goal is to lead an integrated and collaborative college-wide effort to build and maintain strong relationships with alumni and friends, in order to secure philanthropic investments which support the college’s strategic goals, programs and students.
Our team includes a fundraising major gift officer (Amy Lutz), annual fund, development event and alumni relations manager (Lauren Seiler) and a program assistant (Kimberly Mocniak), all who are focused on increasing private support to the College. It is our teams focus to continue to foster our college’s rich history of giving, through donor stewardship and communications, prospect identification, events, annual solicitations and more.
A major gift is a donation made in the amount of $25,000 or more, which can be pledged over five years. If you have a foundation or private donor prospect, we can help to walk you through or be involved in the process of securing these significant gifts.
Annual Fund Gifts
Annual fund gifts provide the dean, department and program leaders the flexibility to identify priority areas in need of additional resources in order to best meet the college’s mission and vision. We work to solicit these donations for non-endowed funds through direct mail solicitations, phone-a-thons, campus campaign and personal visits.
Our office facilitates the scholarship award process, in conjunction with departmental scholarship committees. Each year, we collect scholarship applications and then distribute them to departmental committees. We also provide those committees with available scholarship award information and other necessary details. Once the committees have made all award decisions for their departments, our office works with financial aid to award the scholarships.
For the 2015-16 academic year, CEHS awarded 109 scholarships, totaling over $250,000. Awards ranged from $700 to $7,000, with an average award of $2,300.
The Office of Advancement assists the dean advisory boards (CEHS Visiting Committee & CEHS Alumni Board of Directors) with their meetings, communication and projects and serves as a liaison for other college advisory boards. At your request, our office can assist with development, marketing and best practice advice for your college advisory board.
Private Foundation Grant Submissions
It is very important that the Office of Advancement be involved in the private foundation grant process, as it helps to coordinate submissions across the university. Please review the grant submission guidelines so that we can help you in facilitating the process.
We coordinate gift stewardship for all gift donations and for board membership and on-campus speakers, when appropriate. Our stewardship process includes postcard thank you notes, personal notes and gifts given based on the level and type of gift.
Multiple events focused on engaging our alumni, donor and friends take
place annually. Some of the events the Office of Advancement
facilitates include: the CEHS Annual Alumni Dinner, Emeritus
Reception, Donor and Scholar Luncheon, Hall of Fame and more.
